Harold Leroy Mettler, 82, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Monday, February 18th, 2019 at Diamond Cove Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Horseshoe Bend.
He was born in Monmouth, Illinois on March 8, 1936, a son of the late Dorothy (Isreal) and Ted Mettler. Harold spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was united in marriage to Lynda Gibbs on May 22, 1976 in Burlington, Iowa. During his working years he worked for BNSF Railroad. He was a member of the Boating and Fishing Club, The Loft, Men's Golf League and a former member of The Eagle's, all of Horseshoe Bend.
Harold is survived by his wife, Lynda Mettler of Horseshoe Bend; children, Laurie Perry and husband Tom of Geneva, Illinois, Julie Dominique and husband Rusty of Charlotte, North Carolina; Ray Archer and wife Debbie of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alan Archer and wife Bernice of Loveland, Colorado and Tracy Christensen and husband Doug of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Riley Perry and Brock Perry both of Geneva, Illinois, Justin Dominique and Ryan Dominique both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shannon Hare and Shelley McMahill both of Florida, Mandi Archer, Kyle Archer (Jackie), Kenzie Archer, Marc Archer, and Kailey Archer all of Loveland, Colorado, Austin Christensen (Cassie Lekai) and Joy Christensen both of Lincoln, Nebraska; four great grandchildren; brother, Walt Mettler of Maquota, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Johnson; parents, Ted and Dorothy Mettler and brother, Robert Mettler.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the home of Kevin and Richanda Peters, 1302 Coldbrook Road, Monmouth, Illinois.
