Walter Alvin Berkholtz, 78, of Highland, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.
He was born in Burlington, Wisconsin on October 30, 1939, son of the late Walter and Wanda Berkholtz. Walter spent his life as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was united in marriage to Ethel Shulz in Harvard, Illinois on October 30, 1964 and from this union three daughters were born, Melody, Cynthia and Melissa. Walter served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church and an avid bowler. Walter bowled on four different leagues. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and fishing. During his working years, he worked in a factory.
Walter is survived by his wife, Ethel Berkholtz of Highland, Arkansas; daughters, Melody Folyer and husband John of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas and Cynthia Smith and husband Matt of Metter, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Amanda Folyer, Jennifer Cunningham, Jessica Folyer, Ashley Kenny, Jasmine Smith, Mathew Smith, Triston Foster and Travis Smith; four great grandchildren, Elyxis Owens, Peyton Chambers, Makenzie Cunningham and Nolan Chambers and two sisters, Joyce Loveridge and Judy Gaskins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Wanda Berkholtz and daughter, Melissa Berkholtz.
Memorial service will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 beginning at 1:00 PM at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Anderson officiating.
