Caroline Mary Wozniak

Caroline Mary Kulasiewicz Wozniak, 93, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at her home. Caroline was born in 1933 and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended college at Cardinal Stritch. Her bachelor’s degrees were in music and education. After graduation, she met and married Gilbert Valentine Wozniak in 1955. She was a domestic engineer for her six children. Following divorce, she returned to school for a master’s degree in Special Education with further certification to be a Diagnostician. She taught Special Education at Gaenslen School in the Milwaukee Public School System, then later, she did testing for placement of children in special programs.

Her greatest accomplishments and joy were raising her six children. She provided an array of opportunities for a single mother on a teacher’s salary. She instilled a spirit of independence, the importance of education, love of music and the arts, the exhilaration of traveling, tenacity, perseverance and gathering together to love and celebrate family.

Caroline met Charles (Chuck) Brunette in Milwaukee, Wisconsin while square dancing. They moved to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas for the summer and New Mexico for the winters when they retired. They provided a spectacular summer home on Crown Lake where they enjoyed the water! They went fishing, boating, jet skiing and were members of the boating club and Caroline was a member of the Ladie’s Guild at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic church. They proudly won the “4th of July Floatilla” several years in a row. They wintered in Las Cruces, New Mexico where they cared and managed several rental homes. They vacationed in Mazatlán, Mexico every year to enjoy the warm sun and water there.

Caroline was a lover of music! She sang with a contemporary Christian group in Wisconsin that traveled to different masses. She sang in musicals and many church choirs, everywhere she lived! She loved to garden and her favorite flowers were yellow roses. She had a tenacious drive! Once her mind was set, every project was accomplished successfully! She was a savvy investor which enabled her to build a home for her children, purchase retirement properties in Arkansas and New Mexico and to travel with Chuck and her children every year.

She was a devout Roman Catholic her entire life. She assisted many people by providing shelter, stability and love.

In her last years, she wanted to live as independently as possible. She relied on her neighbors, renters, church family, home healthcare workers and physical/occupational therapists. We give thanks to everyone who loved Caroline and we greatly appreciate their assistance! Even though she was 93, she never thought of herself as old. She told us recently that she didn’t want to donate her stationary bike or her yarn for crocheting because she will start using them again when she gets older.

Caroline is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann Wozniak (Len) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Eileen Louise Wozniak-Abel (Richard) of Blythewood, South Carolina; Diane Carol Wozniak- of Tigard, Oregon, Kay Marie Wozniak (Pedro) of Eureka, California, Michele Renee Wozniak Stallard (Douglas) of Lake Jackson, Texas and her son, Steven Patrick Wozniak (Julie) of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Sarah Abel-Forsythe (John), Luke Tyler Abel (Meredith), Benjamin Isaac Stallard (Lyric), Katherine Marie Wahba (George), Alina Rose Martines, Marisa Kay Martines, Gabriel James Jordan (Carla), Sophia Elen Ramos-Flores, Aria Inbei Wozniak, Gabriel Jesus Ramos Rivera, Chloe Ting Wozniak, and great grandchildren, Aela Abel Forsythe, Arthur Abel Forsythe, Grace Michele Wahba, Esther Caroline Wahba, Alex Bisconer, and Willow Dotson Abel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brunette; parents, Francis and Mary Kulasiewicz and brothers, Frank Kulasiewicz, Daniel Kulasiewicz and Richard Kulasiewicz.

Memorial mass will be Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, beginning at 10:30 AM with rosary at 10:00 AM.
