Leone May Mendoza

Leone May Mendoza, 93, of Horseshoe Bend, departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Salem. She was born in Fairfax, Missouri, on April 25, 1932, to J. B. (Brian) Hopkins and Opal Hopkins.

Leone had a career with computers at the Intel Corporation. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, cooking, bingo, playing cards and her most favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.

Leone is survived by one son, John Eckert (wife Debbie) of San Jose, California, four daughters, Deborah Gonzales of Horseshoe Bend, Gail Eckert, of Gresham, Oregon, Mary Morton (husband Dale), and Janet Mendoza of Horseshoe Bend, two sisters, JoAnn Showalter of Missouri and Dorthea McDaniel of Nebraska, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Brian and Opal Hopkins, her daughter, Linda Weems, her grandson, Todd Anderson and two brothers, JB Hopkins and Robert Hopkins.
