Mary Isbel Shankle

Mary Isbel Shankle, 88, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, November 5th, peacefully, at Southfork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem, Arkansas. She was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas on October 23, 1927, a daughter of the late Mary Bell (Isbel) and Alfred Rains. Mary was united in marriage to Cecil Orvil Shankle on July 18, 1946 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and spent her working years as a CNA. Mary was a member of Myron Baptist Church in Myron, Arkansas. She is survived by her children, Jimmie O. Shankle of East St. Louis, Illinois, Sidney H. Shankle of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Randy K. Shankle of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Ralph A. Shankle of Ventura, California, Mary A. Pumfry of East Lansing, Michigan and Patricia D. Benedict of North Street, Michigan; three brothers, Irvin Rains, Alvin Rains and Charles Rains; two sisters, Margaret Snapp and Mildred Evett; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mary Rains; husband, Cecil Shankle; one daughter, Joan E. Shankle; one brother, Lewis Rains and one sister, Mattie Rains.
