Mary Lee Vender, 89, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 9, 1935, daughter of the late, Harold and Anna (Glatzmayer) Shroeder. Mary was united in marriage to the late Donald Vender on July 20, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York. During her working years, Mary worked for the New York Telephone Company. Mary was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and she loved her church. She enjoyed travelling, especially going on cruises. Mary traveled all over but on one trip, she was able to travel to Rome and see The Pope up close. She loved to care for people; she found great joy in helping others and taking care of her grandchildren. Mary loved living in Horseshoe Bend where she spent thirty-three years. Her cats were her faithful companions for many years, and she loved them dearly.
Mary is survived by her son Donald Vender (Kimberly) of Tomah, Wisconsin; daughter Christine Wilson (Jeff) of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; grandchildren Kevin Vender, Ryan Vender, Mary Buswell, Nicole Organ, Eric Vender, Paul Vender, Melissa Langle and Michael Wilson; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Harold Schroeder, William “Bill” Schroeder and Frank Schroeder and sister, Margaret Baum.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
